Il murales omaggio di Tono Cruz a Totò nel Rione Sanità
Nel Rione Sanità , a Napoli, sulla facciata di un palazzo, c'è un murales dedicato a Totò.
L'opera di street art è di Tono Cruz , artista spagnolo delle Gran Canarie, rappresenta la famosa scena del film "La banda degli onesti", in cui Totò spiega a Peppino come funziona il capitalismo con la metafora dello zucchero. La scena del film si può vedere a questo link.
Il capitalista approfitta dell'incisione altrui, per rubare loro le risorse. E così in questa scena, siccome Peppino non sa quanto zucchero versare nella propria tazzina di caffè, Totò man mano prende per sé tutto lo zucchero, lasciando il compare a bocca asciutta.
Il murales è stato fatto per onorare la memoria dell'attore napoletano nel quartiere dove è nato, e anche per donare al rione un ulteriore elemento di rivalutazione culturale. Tono Cruz, infatti, insieme ad altri street artist, ha partecipato al progetto promosso da padre Antonio Loffredo e dalla Fondazione di Comunità San Gennaro. Già nel 2015 aveva dipinto nella piazza della chiesa il murales "Luce", e insieme all'artista cileno Mono Gonzalez aveva decorato il campanile di una chiesa nel quartiere.
In the Rione Sanità, in Naples, on the facade of a building, there is a mural dedicated to Totò, a famous Neapolitan comic actor of the twentieth century. The street art work has been made by Tono Cruz, a Spanish artist from the Gran Canaries, and represents the famous scene from the movie "The band of honest men", in which Totò explains to Peppino how capitalism works, using the metaphor of the sugar. The scene of the movie can be seen at this link. The capitalist takes advantage of the engraving of others to steal resources from them. In this scene, indeed, since Peppino does not know how much sugar to pour into his cup of coffee, Totò gradually takes all the sugar for himself. The mural was done to honor the memory of the Neapolitan actor in the neighborhood where he was born, and also to give the district an additional element of cultural revaluation. In fact, Tono Cruz, together with other street artists, participated in the project promoted by Antonio Loffredo, preacher of the Church Santa Maria della Sanità, and by the San Gennaro Community Foundation. Already in 2015 Tono Cruz had painted the mural "Luce" in the church square, and together with the Chilean artist Mono Gonzalez he had decorated the bell tower of a church in the neighborhood.
