On the walls of the historic center of Naples, the cries for women's rights echo.
Whatifiier, whom I have already talked about here, uses as backgrounds for her female messages the women from the paintings of Modigliani, Tamara Lempicka, Klimt, Botticelli, and other artists from the past. The street artist has not left her posters only in Naples, but also in other cities like Florence. Therefore, the language she chose to spread her messages is English: Smash the patriarchy, My body my choice, No means no, Sexism is an issue...
The content is similar, but the form and target of the project by Cassandra.parla are different, whose messages are in Neapolitan. Bella 'mbriana, Song' 'na malafemmina, 'O core se da a chi s''o sape tene' (the heart is given to those who know how to keep it), L'ammore fa passa' 'o tiempo e 'o tiempo fa passa' l'ammore (love makes time pass and time makes love pass) are some of the phrases on the posters of street artist Emanuela Auricchio.
Cassandra is her alter ego, because Cassandra in Greek mythology was the one who, even though she could foresee the future, was condemned, essentially, to silence, because no one listened to her, no one believed her. A character to whom Emanuela has given voice again, with her street art works, on the walls of the Neapolitan alleys.
The women are drawn by her, one of her murals is dedicated to Masha Amini, the girl arrested by the Iranian police for not wearing the hijab correctly, and then died three days later, probably due to a beating carried out by the police themselves.
On another mural, in Port'Alba, she leaves a white space, where she invites the viewer to write a sentence.
The posters of the two street artists join the messages of #lediesis, Ogni donna una Madonna, Mp5 and many others, who had already in the past testified in favor of women's rights.
