Das Wandgemälde von Tono Cruz zu Ehren von Totò im Viertel Sanità

Im Rione Sanità, in Neapel, befindet sich an der Fassade eines Gebäudes ein Wandgemälde, das Totò gewidmet ist.
Das Street-Art-Werk stammt von Tono Cruz, einem spanischen Künstler von den Kanarischen Inseln, und stellt die berühmte Szene aus dem Film „La banda degli onesti“ dar, in der Totò Peppino erklärt, wie der Kapitalismus funktioniert, mit der Metapher des Zuckers. Der Kapitalist nutzt die Arbeit anderer aus, um ihnen die Ressourcen zu stehlen. Und so nimmt in dieser Szene, da Peppino nicht weiß, wie viel Zucker er in seine Kaffeetasse geben soll, Totò nach und nach den ganzen Zucker für sich und lässt seinen Freund leer ausgehen.
Das Wandgemälde wurde geschaffen, um das Andenken an den neapolitanischen Schauspieler in dem Viertel, in dem er geboren wurde, zu ehren und dem Rione ein weiteres Element der kulturellen Aufwertung zu schenken. Tono Cruz hat nämlich zusammen mit anderen Street-Art-Künstlern an dem von Pater Antonio Loffredo und der Fondazione di Comunità San Gennaro geförderten Projekt teilgenommen. Bereits 2015 hatte er auf dem Kirchplatz das Wandbild „Luce“ gemalt und zusammen mit dem chilenischen Künstler Mono Gonzalez den Glockenturm einer Kirche im Viertel dekoriert.

In the Rione Sanità, in Naples, on the facade of a building, there is a mural dedicated to Totò, a famous Neapolitan comic actor of the twentieth century. The street art work has been made by Tono Cruz, a Spanish artist from the Gran Canaries, and represents the famous scene from the movie "The band of honest men", in which Totò explains to Peppino how capitalism works, using the metaphor of the sugar. The scene of the movie can be seen at this link. The capitalist takes advantage of the engraving of others to steal resources from them. In this scene, indeed, since Peppino does not know how much sugar to pour into his cup of coffee, Totò gradually takes all the sugar for himself. The mural was done to honor the memory of the Neapolitan actor in the neighborhood where he was born, and also to give the district an additional element of cultural revaluation. In fact, Tono Cruz, together with other street artists, participated in the project promoted by Antonio Loffredo, preacher of the Church Santa Maria della Sanità, and by the San Gennaro Community Foundation. Already in 2015 Tono Cruz had painted the mural "Luce" in the church square, and together with the Chilean artist Mono Gonzalez he had decorated the bell tower of a church in the neighborhood.
